Usage Guidelines and Radio Programming Information

Dear BROADNET GMRS Repeater System Members,

In order to ensure smooth and respectful operation of the BROADNET GMRS Repeater System, please

familiarize yourself with the following guidelines.

  1. Confidentiality:
  2. The PL tones and password must not be shared with anyone, including family members.
  3. Radio Activation and Checks:
  4. Upon successfully connecting your radio to the system, please ensure to promptly request an administrator to conduct a thorough radio check. This will help verify the connection and ensure optimal functionality of the device within the network.
  5. Once your connection has been confirmed, please refrain from requesting further radio checks or offering them to others unless explicitly necessary. This will help maintain system efficiency and prevent unnecessary disruptions.
  6. Frequency Etiquette:
  7. During conversations (QSOs), please be mindful of not monopolizing the frequency. Allow sufficient intervals between transmissions to provide other members with an opportunity to join the conversation. This fosters a more collaborative environment and ensures fair access for all participants.
  8. Periodically announce your call sign to allow fellow listeners to identify the speaker. In the case of a series of transmissions extending beyond 15 minutes, it is mandatory to transmit your call sign at least once every 15 minutes to ensure compliance with communication protocols and facilitate clear identification.
  9. Identification Protocol:
  10. Only respond to individuals who have provided their call sign. Avoid engaging with unidentified users, “jumpers,” or non-members of the broadnet to ensure clear and regulated communication within the network. This practice helps maintain order, security, and compliance with operational protocols during transmissions.
  11. Respectful Communication:
  12. Maintain a respectful tone at all times, refraining from the use of offensive language or engaging in discussions related to religion or politics. This ensures a professional and inclusive environment for all participants, promoting constructive communication and mutual respect.
  13. Exhibit courtesy and professionalism towards fellow members at all times. This fosters a positive and collaborative environment, ensuring respectful interactions and the smooth operation of communications within the network
  14. Seek Assistance:
  15. If you encounter any issues, please contact an administrator promptly for assistance. This ensures that any challenges are addressed in a timely manner, maintaining the efficiency and integrity of the system.
  16. Inquiries:
  17. For any inquiries related to BROADNET, please reach out to our administrators. They are available to provide assistance and ensure that all questions or concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
  18. Participation Requirement:
  19. Adherence to these rules is mandatory for membership in the BROADNET Repeater System. Failure to comply may result in removal from the system without prior warning, ensuring the integrity and proper functioning of the network for all users.
  20. Weekly Net:
  21. Join our net every Thursday night at 8:00 PM. Please wait for the net controller to call your name and callsign before checking in. Note that net control does not entertain early check-ins to maintain an organized and efficient net operation.
  22. Radio Testing
  23. Please refrain from testing your radio over the Repeater, as it has been operational for over five years without any issues. For testing purposes, kindly use a Simplex channel with a friend or an experienced operator to ensure optimal performance without disrupting the network.

By adhering to these guidelines, we can ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all members. Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the system without warning, maintaining the integrity and functionality of the network for all users.
